Have you noticed my Sunday meals
from one week keep turning into the Monday meals the next week? Ok, you
probably haven’t actually noticed that, but I have. For the last couple of
weeks we’ve either been out and about at livestock seminars or picnics and
living on sandwiches made on the tailgate of the truck or we’ve been dining
with friends. At least the Monday menu is easy!
The menu is going to look a
little strange and very boring this week. The Florida State Fair opens this
week. Between dropping off animals, the skill-a-thon, and showmanship, we’ll be
at the Fair quite a few days this week. As tempting as the smells wafting across
the midway are, fair food isn’t the healthiest thing we could be eating or the
healthiest thing for our budget. We’ll be eating salads and sandwiches off the
tailgate again and nibbling on an occasional treat at the fair.
Over the course of the fair, the
kids will devour a waffles and ice cream sandwich; my husband will scarf down a
large bag of kettle corn; and we’ll all try some new freaky fried food like
deep fried butter or deep fried Kool-Aid, because that’s what you do at the
fair.
Did you notice no funnel cakes or
elephant ears on the list? No need to. The Friday after the fair, our 4-H club
will get together and share stories from the fair while I make funnel cakes for
everyone. That’s how we get our funnel cake fix!
The blog will most likely be a
little light on posts this week because of the last minute prep and all the
travelling back and forth to the fair. However, by the end of the week, I
should be posting plenty of pictures. As usual, because I have a thing for
food, you’ll get to wander the fair with me, laughing at all of the fun fair
food available!
I pray that you have a wonderful,
productive, and full week ahead! See you at the fair!
